Report Back from Stepping Hill Area Committee

by Pete West on 15 September, 2021

Stepping Hill Area Committee was held in Conference Room 1, Fred Perry House on 14th September 2021. You can watch the meeting and access the reports pack here.

  • Cllr Grace Baynham presented a petition organised by Kennerley Road Residents’ Association. Cllr Baynham spoke in favour of the traffic calming petition. We will continue to work with local residents to get action on Kennerley Road.
  • Councillors listened to a presentation from Stockport council’s Climate Action Now (CAN) team. The council is planning to make micro-project grants available to enable communities to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change. The fund is due to be launched at the council’s climate summit on 9th Nov 2021. Stepping Hill Lib Dems welcome the initiative, but we’re concerned that the benefit from these sorts of small schemes could easily be outweighed many times over if we don’t tackle the serious problems around housing and transport.
  • Planning Application DC081937 – 203 Bramhall Moor Lane. Two-storey side and single-storey rear extension was approved by the committee.
  • Planning Application DC073489 – Brook Vale Farm. Application for renewal of permission to retain a static caravan for limited residential use in connection with special circumstances at Brook Vale Farm was recommended for approval and will now be assessed by the Planning & Highways Regulation Committee.
  • Report on proposal to alter the polling place for the TA polling district in Stepping Hill Ward. The recommendation of the report to move the polling station from the Scout hut behind Trinity church to Davenport Tennis Club on Flowery Field was agreed by councillors. Davenport Tennis Club will serve as the polling station for both TA and TC polling districts in 2022.
  • Prohibition of waiting order on Buxton Road. Introduction of waiting restriction on a 10m section of road was approved.
  • Road safety around Great Moor Primary School. A package of signs, lines and crossings will be decided at the next meeting.
  • Newby Road, Hazel Grove. Extension of “no waiting and any time” was approved for outside the residential properties.
